A concert in January 2008 featuring Ken Double on organ and Skip
Stine on the trumpet was so well received that it led to a new DTOS recording
and this return engagement. Skip was in the former Harry James orchestra
and now lives in Lititz,
Pa. Ken combined two careers
for years -- sports broadcasting and theatre organ concerts. He is now
focused on the expanding theatre organ world and ATOS in his position as
President of the American Theatre Organ Society. All this is in addition
to a busy concert schedule. The glorious combination of trumpet and
theatre organ will highlight the first concert of the season.

Jerry Nagano was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. He began musical
training at age ten, but discovered theatre organ through his interest in silent
films. While attending a Gaylord Carter show, he was fascinated by the
theatre organ. Later he had a chance to study with Gaylord, who was a
master of silent film accompaniment. For 10 years he was the featured
artist at the famed Ye Olde Pizza Joynt in the Bay area, the very first pizza
parlor with organ. Aside from a very busy musical life, during the day
Jerry is a Senior Computer Systems Engineer for
Stanford
University.

Simon
Gledhill hails from Halifax, West Yorkshire, England.
Simons introduction to theatre organ was hearing Ernest Broadbendt play
the Blackpool Tower Ballroom Wurlitzer.
After winning an organ competition in 1982, he began a series of radio
performances on the BBC. This radio
series led to Simons playing major venues in
Britain, Holland, Germany,
Australia, and the U.S.
In 1997 he received the ATOS Member of the Year Award.
Simon has a full-time career in banking in
London. This
will be his sixth concert at Dickinson.
Simon is that rare
combination of flawless technique, impeccable phrasing, and unerring sense of
musical good taste. Lyn Larsen

Steven Ball occupies a rather unique place in the
organ world. Although he began
accompanying church services at age 9, he discovered theatre organ at Roaring
Twenties Pizza in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Since then he has studied organ in Europe and the US and has
earned his doctorate in organ performance.
Dr. Ball is senior staff organist at Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor, where he
appears weekly when not on the road performing silent films, concerts, or
teaching workshops. He now teaches
in the organ department of U of M.
He has been appointed Cathedral Organist at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Detroit.

As with many of our concert
artists, Lew Williams was classically trained here and in
Europe. He is a
frequent soloist at conventions of both the American Guild of Organists and the
American Theatre Organ Society. He
was named Organist of the Year by ATOS in 1988.
Since 1995, Lew has been a staff organist at Organ Stop Pizza in Mesa, Arizona.
He has been very well received by DTOS audiences in his previous
concerts. His style is unique, and
he is known for getting many unusual effects form the organ.
This will be his fifth concert for DTOS and his first on the new,
expanded console of the Dickinson Kimball.

In the less formal mood of our summer concert, we welcome Rich Lewis, who
started playing theatre organ here at Dickinson.
In 1992, at the age of 17, he entered and won first place in the National
Young Organist Competition of the ATOS.
As a result, he studied with Tom Hazleton and Lyn Larsen.
He has also studied classical organ and choral conducting at
Westminster
Choir College.
Today Rich is senior organist at a local church and does pipe organ
maintenance for a local organ builder.
Many requests for his return in a solo concert followed his very
successful appearance in the Showcase Concert in July of 2005.
